My Update on JR is very difficult. Dr. Rob Melendez and team did a very thorough eye exam today. The diagnosis is a Tractional Retina Detachment. Lots of long term, internal bleeding and scarring. He is sending us to an eye surgeon to see if there is any hope for surgical repair, even partial. Dr Melendez was very kind and encouraging, and took lots of time to speak about hope for the future, in spite of blindness. RJ took it well, but cried hard on the way home. We prayed and gave it all to God. Today, it hit us that we met, literally moments after his retina detached! We both believe Jesus brought us together for a reason. We dont know exactly what that is yet, but we are working it out day by day. Thanks to your donations and support, he is no longer in a dangerous motel on Central. UpB4 Son is helping him to establish a better life, step by step, with the help of several other wonderful organizations. I will try to keep you posted. Meanwhile, please pray God brings RJ peace and comfort in coming to grips with his new reality.
