My absolute favorite diving has not been in off the exotic islands of the Caribbean, but in the clear fresh water of the Great Lakes. Lots of shipwrecks have yet to be discovered and, when they are found, they are often intact. There are wrecks with everything from smuggled booze to gold and silver. And, as is now being shown, there are archaeological sites where man lived and hunted before these areas were flooded with a large melting of the icecaps over 9,000 years ago.
