My age can currently be expressed as an integer number. Some people enjoy attention and like to draw attention to such occurrences. Doing things with people sounds nice, but the notion of celebrating or drawing attention to myself seems absurd. Most people these days have lives more heavily and widely involved than hiking and contra dancing, and I have come to expect people to be too busy with having lots of things to do already. It seems arrogant to expect people to go out of their way for me, especially if it is because of any excuses. I planned to go hide on the Appalachian Trail somewhere up north, but instead my truck broke down and I spent much of the day driving to and then limping away from New England. Now I have to figure out how to fix my truck within very limited means, and will miss out on the odd jobs and hiking and dancing I had planned for the next two weeks. There seems not to be much to celebrate today, if I was interested in such things.
