My analysis on Saturdays Senatorial Election in - TopicsExpress

My analysis on Saturdays Senatorial Election in Montserrado: Benjamin Sanvee should have certainly been the best candidate for the race, unfortunately, he had a huge job to do before joining this heated process. I feel he has been hugely disconnected from mainstream youth and students advocacy or organizations in the country for a good while. His only and major identity was taking the stage during the Taylor era as Youth Advisor, he performed poorly and the brutality meted against the young people by his former boss-Charles Taylor is haunting him in this election. I admire his courage to keep on up to the last minute, Tho He will not win but I agree with him that this is a fresh start for him to regain his lost political identity. and his courage also serves as a clarion call to most of the young people who have the identity but scare to venture in such national and challenging processes. Good fight Ben sadly you will not win. Robert Sirleaf- His story is an open secret, he has the favor of the regime, he successfully bought his way by getting on board many influential young brothers. But what is unfortunate is that many of those he has brought on board will only succeed in giving him rented audience but not convertible votes. He will suffer defeat based on transferred aggression from his mother leadership of the country for nine years. He is seen as an elitist and also just coming into the fray under the canopy as a humanitarian. He suffers identity crisis! He will not win but will put up a good fight since he has to his to his disposal cash and other resources. George Weah- Many things point in his favor to win this election, his victory may not be a tsunami. He has a long standing identity, he has captured political sympathy. His victory is a reincarnation and fulfillment of the Sawyer for Mayor election in 1978. His Party, CDC has succeeded to become a new political party that has lived less than ten years and become the biggest opposition party. He does not have the resources to buy nor convince electorates. They have demonstrated their unflinching supports even in the absence of a platform for the senate. He will win this election and set foot for 2017.
