My apologies. I inadvertently missed Day 5 of the Parkinson - TopicsExpress

My apologies. I inadvertently missed Day 5 of the Parkinson Challenge of posting one song a day for five days (while nominating three others each day to pick up the torch and carry the flame). So here it is one day late. Back Home was, as I recall, the first single I ever bought. It was the song for the England World Cup team of 1970. Bobby Mooress team was going to Mexico as world champions - an exciting time for any 7-year old. They were in the same group as the mighty Brazil. What a game. I recall watching it live in the morning (how was that possible?) at my friend Chris Longs house. Banks made the save if the century but Brazil won. We didnt worry too much though because it was a group game and England would surely beat West Germany in the quarter-finals. Banks was missing but leading 2-0, England looked safe. Then off came Bobby Charlton and the Germans levelled at 2-2. This match I watched in the evening. I remember that feeling of impending doom as the game went into extra time. I told my mother I wanted to go to bed. I knew what would happen. And lo and behold Gert bloody Muller popped up to score the winner to knock England out. Back Home, though, burned itself into my consciousness that summer. Every time I hear it I go back to the excitement, joy and despair of the summer of 70. Nominees to post a song a day for 5 days are: Alexia Amvrazi, Kathy Tompkins and Gilles Andre
