My apologies in advance for thinking that one Christmas rant would - TopicsExpress

My apologies in advance for thinking that one Christmas rant would be sufficient, but our wonderfully informative media has provided yet more fodder on two points (only one of which is new): All of the coverage has finally produced the single statement not only of how our system is broken (from UVA to Ferguson, MO/NYC/etc, to Bill Cosby, and congressional investigative committees), but also expressing the reason it is broken. In an interview with one of the witnesses involved in the UVA diversion, he responds to the discredited article by saying, It doesnt matter if the story is true. Judicial systems can work ONLY when working with truth. UVA and other campuses need to realize that the true source of their respective campus cultures is the students enrolled. The accusers of Bill Cosby and those colleges/universities who are now distancing themselves from him need to demonstrate their disdain by returning all money received from him. Congress was willing to accept What difference does it make in the past, but now wishes to deny due process to those who take responsibility for their actions. Once upon a time, testimony in court required the witness to take an oath on the Bible, but since those same courts have determined that the Bible does not necessarily contain truth, they now depend on the good nature of man (humankind for those who insist on inclusive language). But most of these issues will not make their way to any courtroom because there is no evidence to support the allegations. The alternative is to try this in the court of public opinion, with mobs (including those protestors who claim to be peaceful) expressing their verdict and executing their sentence upon the communities where they live, and even travelling to impose judgement in neighborhoods where they would never have visited before due to the unsavory nature of those communities. On a similar note, a neighboring town was informed that its Nativity scene would need to be moved from government-owned land to avoid possible civil action. The warning came from a group calling itself Freedom from Religion. The city council yielded to the threat, and the Nativity was moved to a nearby business. I am reminded of the first Nativity, also threatened by force of law, that resulted in the slaughter of the innocents by the soldiers of King Herod. Despite the best efforts to destroy the Hope of Salvation for the world, Divine Providence maintained consistency in fulling the promise of deliverance from evil. A few who read this will certainly be offended, and to them I request that they rapidly unfriend me. I am not inviting any argument here, only passing along my observations. And if you choose to be offended, then you have already embraced these two points: What difference does it make, and It doesnt matter if the story is true. Truth always makes a difference, and you can only effect change for the better if you act on the side of Truth.
