My bad experience with FNB bank! Fellow South Africans, I have - TopicsExpress

My bad experience with FNB bank! Fellow South Africans, I have been with ABSA all the years, but sadly they have little knowledge of ‘paypal’. I publish my books through bookrix publisher, and a paypal account is necessary for me to receive payment from my book sales. Bookrix refuses to use the electronic transfer system, and insist on dealing with the appalling third party company known as paypal. I therefore turned to FNB today, as they deal directly with paypal. After spending over an hour in the bank, merely to open a bank account for the purpose of the paypal system, I returned home and tried to register my bank card with paypal. On failure I returned to the bank manager, and we attempted the impossible together. This is the message I received from paypal when trying to link the card number to their link: ‘The Credit Card Verification System used by PayPal is currently unavailable. Please try to add your credit card at a later time. We apologize for this inconvenience.’ The bank manager was thus led to believe that the problem was with paypal. I tried over and over again at home. Finally it was time to send messages to paypal’s customer service. The emails were answered rather quickly, and three operators gave me the same answer. They insisted the verification method required a small deduction from my card, which FNB declined. Finally a representative from paypal’s head office phoned me and put me through to FNB head office. I was required to furnish the card’s full number. The lady then confirmed it was a debit card, and therefore not suitable for paypal. A cheque card is needed for paypal. It is now after 6 at night, and I have wasted an entire day. How pathetic can a bank be? Does anyone know whether this bank is a BEE company?
