I didnt have the chance to post this last night but I just have to say how PROUD I am of my son. The announcement was made at football practice on Wednesday night about who had made the Ram Youth Football League All-Star Team and who did not. Walking to the car after practice, after his name had not been called, he asks, What is the All-Star team, anyway? After explaining it to him he shrugged his shoulders and said, Thats okay...I know theres better players on the team than me. Can we still go watch the game and cheer for my teammates? He then proceeded to talk about how he was going to run some people over this weekend at the playoff games and went about his evening without EVER complaining or questioning why he didnt get chosen. WOW!!! Brings me to tears now just reflecting upon what an amazing kid he is and just goes to show how the little things like that arent important...he just has a love for the game! Well last night at practice, another parent congratulated me. THROUGHLY confused, I was like, For what??? She then tells me that Keegan made the All-Star Team. So I had to correct her and tell her that he hadnt been chosen. She tells me, Yes he was....it was posted on the Facebook page last night. So in complete disbelief...I go check out the El-Paso Ravens Facebook page and sure enough, there it was.....#35 Keegan Barnes. Again....WOW!! She says, Keegan must be so excited!! My response.....Keegan has no idea!!! Meanwhile....theres (un-medicated) Keegan without a care in the world; messing around with his teammates, picking grass and throwing it up in the air, and at some points not even paying attention....then getting in trouble and having to run to the wall :) After practice, I pull him aside and tell him the big news and he immediately goes over to coach and thanks him. Coach tells him that hes really proud of him and that he didnt choose him because of me being team mom and then talks to him for about 10 minutes about the reasons he DID choose him and about how much he deserves it. So proud of him and his actions and SELFLESSNESS....Wednesday night all he wanted to know was when the all-star game was so that we could go and watch his buddies...still last night after the news that he DID make the team, all he wanted to do was go out this weekend and DOMINATE on the field during playoffs. He makes me so proud!!
