My biggest mistake as a Collegiate runner was not running enough - TopicsExpress

My biggest mistake as a Collegiate runner was not running enough tempo runs at or below goal race pace. If youre looking to improve your time, tempo runs are key. Your tempo runs should be 50-60% the distance of your races and should be done at least every other week. If youre training to improve your 10 miler time, you should be doing tempo runs of 5-6 miles at your goal pace every other week. For Half Marathoners that should be 6.5 miles- 8 miles at a hard pace. You have to train your body how to flush lactic acid effectively and efficiently so that youre somewhat comfortable on race day!
