My biggest question IS, while many of us KNOW the hidden genetics, - TopicsExpress

My biggest question IS, while many of us KNOW the hidden genetics, either by personal knowledge of the colour bloodlines or by testing, WHY then are those horses ALWAYS called chestnuts (or the other base colours) by breed registries? Unless of course you can prove by testing and have that amended otherwise? With the Paint & Appaloosa Societies (and now the dilute registry) at least they have the decency to list the horses as being solid if not showing the characteristics, even though the horse may in fact be a genetic carrier of those genes......It makes it very difficult, and while I appreciate the many answers that testing gives us, I see problems with people saying their horse is one colour different from what it seems. I can just see so many implications and confusion....
