My bipartisan bill with Senators Graham, Hoeven and Schumer to crack down on the rise in metal theft passed through the Judiciary Committee today. In the past few years, metal theft has increased more than 80 percent. These thieves are stealing pieces of high-priced metal from businesses, homes, churches and even veterans’ graves. Our bill will make this theft a federal crime and make it harder for the thieves to sell the stolen goods.
