Suddenly I got flashback to the song batter ram, my night in the spotlights of Hueys while I did the unheard of action(to my Hollywood friends) of taking a bus in South Central LA. Have the National Guard Troops arrived in Englewood? What next, Academi LLC (formerly Xe and Blackwater Worldwide)? Thats who was a replacement for the NG in New Orleans after the storms. The govenor is right, The cost of inaction is too high. But is this a learn term solution? How long before they decide to contract this service to a private firm like Academi? What is the end game. How does the military bring a halt to what is essentially a social problem. What are their rules of engagement? Will this program expand to the West Side and South Shore? Will these communities have to submit to yet more stop and frisk, sus laws? Can these communities find themselves under sectional martial law? Mayor Rahm Emmanuel has called on the assistance of the United States military to help patrol the blood-soaked streets of Chicago. The unprecedented move is one step away from declaring total martial law in the nation’s third most populous city. Military occupation is the best we could come up with? More reasons to remove poor communities from developing urban areas? Will forced removal to contemporary American multicultural Bantustans be next? Because this will be applied to all lower class communities in Crisis, starting with the overwhelming of the temporary Guard presence to a permanent private security firm presence. Academi already had that contract. At a joint press conference on April 25, Rep. Ford and fellow Illinois House of Representatives Democrat John Fritchey called upon Governor Pat Quinn to bring in National Guard troops to bolster the presence of law enforcement in areas of the city that have been the hardest hit by crime. Fritchey. “The unfortunate reality is that we have another war that is just as deadly taking place right in our backyard.” REALLY! We got plan to insert the military but no plans but to create jobs, no plans for the escape from an endless cycle of poverty. In a report titled “Street Gangs: The New Urban Insurgency” written by Dr. Max G. Manwaring, a Professor of Military Strategy in the Strategic Studies Institute (SSI) of the U.S. Army War College, he drew a parallel between “contemporary criminal street gangs” and the insurgencies that are seen in Iraq and Afghanistan “in terms of the instability it wreaks upon government and the concomitant challenge to state sovereignty.” This is also the way to create an insurgency. This is clearly a stretch to bolster his own relevancy in the 21st Century. Time for the post civil right leadership to retire, I think.
