My cats work so hard at trying to get me to reduce the clutter in my life. Poor little buggers dig stuff out and leave it for me to find-----hoping of course, that I would realize that such items are unnecissary and remove them from their presence. In their frustration, they knock things over, push things to the floor, sometimes even tear them to shreds. They dig in boxes, open cupboards, drawers, as if it is a purpose in life. Seemingly without the slightest regard for my need to pile, to set here until later, to have what I think is order. In the process of course, they teach me what it is to live in the world with other beings. Bluntly reminding me, that although I might think I own this house, that I actually own little more than one more misguided assumption. This house is shared. I might have a vote, an opinion, but I am one of many--the entire world doesnt revolve around me, we do not all think alike, do not react the same, do not place equal importance on everything. Clutter, it seems, comes in many forms----not all of it is stuff. But sometimes, when we care we put up with each others clutter, each others mess for our own peace of mind. It makes it so much easier to live together. Even when you live with little devils.
