My cross country team had a good day yesterday at the Allendale - TopicsExpress

My cross country team had a good day yesterday at the Allendale Invite. The boys varsity team had a couple of tough workouts this week, and their efforts paid off. After running hard mile repeats on Wednesday and then fast intervals with short rest on Thursday, it was great that the boys embraced the learning opportunities those workouts gave them and applied them to the race. One of the boys finally broke through the 20 minute barrier hes been fighting with a 19:17. On top of that, we had our first ever CTA Charger run in the 16s yesterday!!!! Les Miner broke his own school record with a 16:53 (and hes only a freshman). We had many other great races, as well. To top it off, I was proud of the fact that one of my former runners took over the coaching duties for me so successfully yesterday. I guess she was trained well. ;) We also had one of our girls win a spot on the Red Flannel court last night in the Cedar Springs Red Flannel Pageant. It was a good day to be a Charger cross country runner! Our next race is Saturday at Portage. Both of my assistant coaches and myself are running in the open race prior to the boys varsity race. It should be a fun day!
