My dad played at the Wellington Jazz Club this afternoon. Told stories about wartime Wellington and the music, being introduced to new styles by the Marines, sneaking in to see Artie Shaw and his big band with Verne Clare (Clares Nightclub) and getting asked if they had tickets for their front and centre seats - he put on a American accent and said without looking The General said we could sit here! Got Max up for a Boogie-woogie duet that got a huge cheer. Ran out of memory but caught some video. We stayed around for Terry Crayford and Days Bays exquisite Hannah Fraser. Memorable afternoon indeed!
