My daughter ran to me crying last night after what must have been a painful realization. We watched the making of the Broadway revival of Annie. We talked about the girls being her age and how she wants to perform and how hard she has to work in ballet, voice, gymnastics etc. We bought the movie Annie, she was watching it and ran to crying and said, "Mama, mama, I can never be Annie in a show because I am not white!
