My dear Honourable Edison Gumbo (Member of Parliament Gwanda - TopicsExpress

My dear Honourable Edison Gumbo (Member of Parliament Gwanda Central) I sincerely hope I find you well this morning. I note with great interest that a proposal to move a motion in parliament to move the sitting of parliament from Harare to Bulawayo has been tabled. As a resident in your constituency which is indeed directly capitalled by Bulawayo on regional basis I am forced to believe that this motion does not only excite me but will also excites you especially as a presumed lobbyist for the equal recognition and development of this region. Without necessarily emphasising on economic benefits this move will bring to the economically marginalised city and region I hope you also do realise how much of a social benefit this will be to the city and the region. What with people in your constituency continuously referring to Harare as Bambambazonke there by crying for the devolution of power albeit your party opted to call it de centralisation of governmental roles. Guess the de centralisation of this noble state function to your region will be of great excitement to you. I was disappointed to hear that some members of parliament laughed and interjected to the tabling of the motion and I know deep down in my heart that as principled as you are you did not laugh with them but you were equally shocked at how and why they laughed at this proposal to EMPOWER, DEVELOP and CREATE EMPLOYMENT to your region. I know you realise and acknowledge that this is not just a Bulawayo issue but a Southern Region issue where both your constituency Gwanda Central and your ancestral and traditional home Mberengwa are located. It is therefore undoubted that you know how much of a benefit in terms of recognition and appreciation this move will bring to the people of your region. It is therefore my most humble plea that for once you stand your democratic right as a southerner and express your heart felt voice and vote for the moving of parliament from Harare to Bulawayo. Yes, your party may have its own decision and order that you vote in a certain manner, have your brothers in Victoria Falls and other councils not given a loud enough lesson that democracy is guided by personal conviction more than party orders and undue influence? I trust you are an above board gentleman thats why as people from Gwanda we opted for you, traditionally and originally from Mberengwa, above some of our own and gave you the chance to speak for us in parliament. I know if you had your way and with our backing you will have even called for parliament to come to Gwanda, but no problem for now while you enforce the development of Gwanda to a City, lets bring it closer to home to Bulawayo. Thank you in advance for speaking our voice by your vote and voice in advance, Parliament is coming to Bulawayo.
