My dog Shadow is a rescue dog. She was abused before she came to us, but she is fine now. She has been with us for about 15 years now. She has reached a point where she has trouble jumping up onto the couch, and she is listless and lacking in energy. She had some bladder problems a few months ago. That happens with older, spayed females. She has had some arthritis for a while, but we are treating it with exercise and fish oil, which helps with joint pain. A decent dog is more than just a companion. A dog is a member of the family, and a loved one. A dog is pretty dang constant, better than humans in some ways.
