My father said that a woman shouldnt talk back to her husband loudly. If you have something to say, say it quietly and with respect. Of course I was asking him why? I said girls should be able to say whats on their mind if men could. He said you can say it; just dont be disrespectful. I said what if you get angry with your husband? He said; dont be disrespectful; I said thats not fair. He said it might not be fair; but thats the way it is. A man takes care of the woman he said, he pays the bills, buys the food, buy the clothes for her and children, gives her a place to live, loves her and protects her; she should never disrespect him for that. But daddy I would say that shouldnt mean she cant tell him what she thinks. She can, but she should know that he might be tired from working so hard and she should be gentle with him. But daddy I would say.. he would say see, you wont keep a husband if you talk too much, you have to listen Karen. Then I wont get married I would say, and he would laugh and say, yes you will. It was my father who said that I must breast feed my children. He said it is unnatural for bottles to be in the mouth of babies, and that they would be better adjusted if I nursed them. How long should I do it? it I asked him, until they start biting you with their teeth So I nursed my first born until he was two and a half and the other three until they were 15-16 months. They never had any rubber or plastic in their mouths. My daddy said it is worth the sacrifice to nurse them and I believed him! He was right. My daddy told me that my mother was the most beautiful woman in the world. I believed him. My father told me a joke when I was a little girl; he had a funny sense of humor. He said Once their was a man who got married, the man was so happy. On their honeymoon the husband was anxiously waiting for his new bride to come to him. She told him just a minute honey, so she took off her wig and put it on the dresser, she took off her false eyelashes and put them on the dresser, she took off her padded breast and put it on the dresser, her padded girdle and put it on the dresser; he looked at her and jumped on the dresser! He laughed so hard! He said Karen you are naturally beautiful, dont get into those false things, dont trick a man into thinking you look one way when you look another, let a man love you for who you are; then you know that it is you that he truly loves! Needless to say, to this day I wont dye my hair, get a breast job or a butt job, I dont wear false lashes, I wear my hair natural; but I do wear lipstick and eyeliner, not for the man but for myself. Thank you daddy for your guidance and wisdom.
