My favorite Ghazal singer.. The DESIRE to have intimate companionship with person that we like is a very human psychological truth. The expression or non expression of the desire and the and events there after, is where most of the romantic expressionist poetry is based. I had the privilege to learn 4 languages in my life; Punjabi, Hindi, English and Urdu. I learned Urdu from grade 6 onward, duly supported by my father and school teachers. I found that Urdu vocabulary was always more expressive of the DESIRE and other aspects associated with it than the other three.... The word ISHQ ... an Urdu is translated into love and Pyar in English, Punjabi and Hindi..... yet ISHQ means different and more specific... and more expressive of one form of DESIRE. I dedicate this Ghazal to my Urdu teaches and my father, who took time and pain to teach me Urdu, which so beautifully provided relief and healing to much of the pain in my life.
