My favorite TV show, The Unexplained Files, apparently made a goof - TopicsExpress

My favorite TV show, The Unexplained Files, apparently made a goof tonight. Their show about the red rain in Kerala, India, and perhaps also in Sri Lanka (?) (not sure-- the locations differ between the TV show and this reference below)... anyway in this "red rain" TV segment they showed a top Sri Lankan scientist who investigated the red rain and tested the samples. This professor stated that in the Sri Lankan samples, no DNA was found, yet the cells were reproducing and could withstand something like 300 degrees F. and survive easily. Okay, now this source below, is a new or quite recent 2013 scientific study, in which samples of red rain were collected in Kerala India (and which may be red or reddish dust samples containing microbes, possibly not same as the samples in Sri Lanka(?), the investigators did find DNA, and this would mean the red rain may have originated as Earth-based cells. However, even if they did use improved DNA detection in their study, this does not obviate the problem of the survivability of the Sri Lanka "red rain" cells in very high temperatures, and other anomalous facts in that event. mic.sgmjournals.org/content/159/Pt_1/107.full.pdf+html
