My feet are killing me! But Im happy! Was on my feet, walking up & down 1 of my favorite museums, the Kuntshistorische from 10AM to 9PM without a break! Never knew it was among the worlds top museums first time I went there 4 years ago. I sought it out because it has my favorite painting of the Archangel Michael by Lucca Giordano. Oh, but its a museum worth going halfway round the world to see! Today, I had more time to browse & discovered I loved the small, detailed pieces as much as the grandiose ones! I was captivated by Benvenuto Cellinis golden Saliera, or salt cellar, the details of which the great sculptor hammered by hand! The gold temple by the hand of the gold maiden holds pepper while the gold bowl on the side of the man astride the hippocampi holds salt! Its part of the toys of the kings - all blue-blooded pack rats. And theres a gold tower automaton thats actually a more elaborate cuckoo clock, only in this one, a wooden figure comes out of the door & bares his buttocks to everyone! Of course, the Gemma Augusta, from the time of Ceasar Augustus, was awesome, plus all the gold and gems of the empire. And theres my fave painting of my favorite angel, along w/ so many masterpieces - Vermeers Art of Painting & opuses of Titian, Rubens, Raphael, van Dyck, Caravaggio, u name it!
