My fellow friends and supporters. In life we are sometimes hit with family members or even friends that we know, with illness that dont only strike the person but there family, I know because I can relate because my girlfriend has cervical cancer, and Im doing everything. I can to help. So now, I am writing this letter on the behalf of Aldo Marin my CEO of my music Label because Aldo and me need your help. More importantly, hundreds of young children are dying in this country from a disease with no cure and they need your help to stay alive. Aldo Marin committee member with the Cristian Rivera Foundation, a charity that is very close to my heart. It’s named after my friend John Gungie Rivera’s six-year-old son Cristian, who died in 2009 after suffering for two years with a very aggressive brain stem tumor called DIPG. Approximately 200 children between the ages of 1 and 9 suffer the same fate as Cristian each year. Once they are diagnosed with DIPG, they typically won’t live more than 3 to 18 months. In my work with the Cristian Rivera Foundation, I have met many children and families who are slapped with a DIPG death sentence and don’t know where to turn. This is where you come in. I need you to make a tax-deductible donation to the Cristian Rivera Foundation so that leading doctors have the funds to research the disease and DIPG families have a source of hope. Every dollar donated to the Cristian Rivera Foundation goes directly to two main doctors who are at the forefront of DIPG research: Dr. Mark Souweidane is the vice chairman of the department of neurological surgery at Weill Cornell Medical College and director of pediatric neurosurgery at both Weill Cornell Medical College and Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. His pioneering clinical trial introduced a surgical option to what had once been an inoperable tumor and continues to study the efficacy and delivery of potentially life-saving treatment. Dr. Oren Becher is a pediatric neuro-oncologist and a member of the Duke Cancer Institute. He currently runs a research lab at Duke University where he grows DIPG tumors in mouse colonies and studies DIPG tumors to gain an understanding of their genetic makeup and discover ways to treat and cure them. The research of these two men combined will ultimately lead to a cure for DIPG. In that, I have no doubt. The Cristian Rivera Foundation has led the way in funding this incredible research at every step of the way, as noted in the following quote from Dr. Mark Souweidane: The research basis of the ongoing clinical trial for children with DIPG means that insurance cos will not pay for the majority of these childrens care, estimated at $40,000 per child. The successful continuation of the clinical trial has relied exclusively on funding from foundations, private gifts, and non-federal grants. The Cristian Rivera Foundation has been front and center in this support. In fact, The Cristian Rivera Foundation has had the longest and greatest track record for driving this momentum. The Cristian Rivera Foundation funds have been instrumental from the very first steps of laboratory research to the current leap into a promising clinical trial. -Dr Mark Souweidane One of the incredible children affected by this disease was Olivia Boccuzzi. Below is a picture of the beautiful Olivia before and after she was diagnosed with a horrific brain stem tumor. -Before After Pic attached We became drafted into this horrific world of childhood cancer on September 21st, 2011. On this day, my seemingly healthy and beautiful daughter Olivia was diagnosed with brainstem cancer. She was almost two years old. Our lives forever changed that day. What followed is a fate I wish on no other child or family. Despite every effort to save my little girls life, she became a DIPG angel on August, 20th 2012. When Olivia was diagnosed, we reached out to John Rivera from the Cristian Rivera Foundation. The compassion, love and support this foundation has provided my family is immeasurable. They guided, listened, cared and did whatever they could to help us. Now, two years later, The Christian Rivera Foundation continues to be a source of strength for us. We consider John a dear family friend and a great ally in the fight against childhood cancer. The passion and love that the Christian Rivera Foundation displays towards families is remarkable. Thank you to the Cristian Rivera Foundation for all you do. With sincere gratitude, Enza Boccuzzi, Olivias mom As you can see, DIPG is a truly horrific disease that no child or family should have to go through. The Cristian Rivera Foundation will continue to be one of the leading donors to DIPG research but for that, they need your help. The cost of treating a DIPG child had once cost $80,000 but has since been brought down to $40,000. My goal is to fund 25% of the cost of helping one child, or $10,000. So please support this amazing cause that means so much to me and make a donation at one of the following levels: $50-$100----Sergeant First Class $150-$250---Lieutenant $300-$500---Colonel $501-$1000--Five Star General $1000 or more----Commander-in-Chief You can send me a check payable to the Cristian Rivera Foundation or visit their website, cristianriverafoundation.org/donation.html and make your donation via PayPal just mention in the Add Special Instructions that you are a friend of Aldo Marin. So that the organization knows where this donation originated. I have no doubt we can reach my goal and save the life of a young child. No parent should have to watch a child die. So join me in supporting the Cristian Rivera Foundation. Every dollar goes toward saving lives. No money goes toward salaries or overhead. If youd like to join us for the star studded 6th Annual Cristian Rivera Foundation Gala on November 11th, 2014 at the Broad Street Ballroom or Advertising in the Galas book and Sponsorship opportunities please write me back for more info. Thank you in advance for your generosity. Sincerely, Aldo Marin and Vincenzo Leone Cutting Records, Inc. cuttingnyc Committee Member of The Cristian Rivera Foundation Video By VinnyVenom
