My fellow students, I am honored to inform you that I will be running as VP External in the upcoming PSSA Elections. As the role of VP External is to act as a liaison between the association and external bodies, I believe I have the necessary skills to fulfill this position. I am an active member of PSSA who has partaken in most of the events organized by the association. My involvement within the PSSA has given me the opportunity to meet a diverse range of students, within and outside of PSSA, as well as professors. Reflecting on this positive experience of mine, I would love to provide the same opportunity to other political science students to develop their social network by increasing the number of joint events with external bodies. Furthermore, as a PSSA Ambassador I have been familiarized with the structure of the organization. This will assist me in adapting to the new role of VP External quickly and therefore allowing seamless transition of power. Working as an Ambassador also nurtured my interpersonal skills and communication skills, which is a great asset for VP External. Additionally, my approachable but confident personality alongside my ability to speak many languages (English, French and Spanish) will allow me to consolidate current contacts and develop new contacts throughout and outside the university. I hope to concentrate my efforts on further improving the external network of the PSSA by actively seeking quality guest speakers and academic events for political science students. Lastly, the VP External is responsible with organizing and overseeing competitions. My successful experience as a member of the PSSA Model UN team has provided me with knowledge in organizing and managing professional competition teams. Therefore, I will dedicate myself to support the existing competitions teams as well as to promote new extracurricular opportunities to students. I urge all of you to give me the opportunity to work for you and to put my skills and abilities to your benefit. I believe that my aforementioned experiences with PSSA in conjunction with my passion for improving academic experiences to all political science students will allow me successfully fulfill the role of VP External.
