My first day back to the Museum today after 9 days off for Halloween - a holiday of performance and indulgence . . . And oh ye Gods! The place is in chaos! Our lovely useful downstairs space, where the library used to be, and which wed planned to turn into a child-oriented Museum space for crafts and activities, has been confiscated by the Council to use for offices. So I got there this morning, found a couple of unpleasant workmen ordering me out, no idea where our Clytemnestra painting has gone (Memo to self - check e-bay), managed to get up to my gallery, then found that we cant use our kitchen or toilets any more, and there are the incessant sounds of drills and hammers going on all around . . . Add to that the Regimental Volunteer in even nastier knitwear than usual, and a visitor who seemed to take it as a personal affront that I hadnt heard a feature that he had caught on a local radio station that I dont listen to anyway . . . Im so grateful to my muses who provided me with all that unexpected inspiration yesterday - I had a notebook, I had a pen, so I was able to write the beginning of the new story and block out all the nonsense . . . Good too to go to the Worcester Arts Workshop afterwards and chill out with Marsha and Sunny. The new painting is coming along wonderfully!
