My first rant. Probably my only one. And its not really a rant, - TopicsExpress

My first rant. Probably my only one. And its not really a rant, more like an observation. It requires a little backstory so please bear with me. My daughter is physically and developmentally challenged (Judson knows her well!) and she attends the Exceptional Foundation up in Homewood. She belongs to a service club there that is a Kiwanis Club for those who are challenged in some way. They performed a service project today where they went to a church and helped pack grocery bags full of goods for a local food pantry. We happened to stop and eat dinner on the way home at Longhorn in Alabaster. She was telling us about what they did today as I was buttering up a piece of that bread they bring to the table. They put in each of the bags 2 boxes of cereal, 2 cans of Chef Boyardee, a can of fruit, 2 cans of green beans, and some rice. Its hard to describe the feeling I got in the pit of my stomach as I looked around that restaurant and realized that we were surrounded by people who were enjoying way more food that they could eat. We were about to be served way more food that we could eat. And someone somewhere was going to be oh so grateful to get that one bag of food with those 2 boxes of cereal in it. I pointed that out to my family and we acknowledged how blessed and grateful we were for all that we have. Its only by Gods grace that were not the recipients of that bag of food. And I dont forget that for one minute! So tonight if youre reading this with a full stomach, in a cool house, probably by the light of at least a 60 watt bulb, Id say that theres much to be grateful for and not much to rant about.
