My four day adventure is coming to an end. Today Im heading home from Bakersfield Ca. A very generous Uncle who is also a pilot flew his Cessna 182 up to Arlington last Monday so that I could train in it and get my High Performance endorsement. He is an excellent pilot and teacher! I flew with a local CFI and was signed off last Wednesday. We left Arlington on Friday headed for Kalamath Falls Oregon , me as pilot in command! The weather progressively improved as we flew south. We stopped for lunch at Redmond OR, then spent the night at Kalamath Falls. The following morning we departed and continued south through central Oregon. Our flight path took us near Reno NV and we crossed the Sierras at Lake Tahoe. Enroute to a lunch stop at Columbia CA we flew south of the Placerville wildfire. It was very sad to see that. After lunch we continued south through heavy smoke which reduced visibilities to out destination, Wasco which is just north of Bakersfield. Ive been dreaming of making this flight for so long! It went perfectly, I learned a bunch, had a lot of fun, and now have an additional 8.5 cross country time in my log book !!
