My friend Jeff Ferrer stated this with precise and accurate understanding ... Salvation has become a cheap commodity. Say a little prayer and confess Jesus and youll be saved. Im on a soap box so get ready. When the Pentecostal movement began if someone wanted to get saved, they wanted to because they were under conviction, I mean real conviction, they came to the alter (front of the church) and they didnt leave till they knew they had it because no one was standing there behind them telling them they were saved! They were kneeling there with them PRAYING THE FIRE OF GOD DOWN! Where is the church? When people left the alter they were changed! They didnt disappear and never return. Lord forgive us all. The roots of Pentecostals is soaked in the Power of the living God not in some mealy mouthed I hope nobody gets offended. I hope somebody does get offended, the d-e-v-i-l and if he aint offended then we didnt have church! If he can sit on the front row and laugh at the quaint antic dots then we might as well leave and go across the street to the club. If youre not going to be Pentecostal go ahead and take the name off the building. If you cant remember what that was like then let me remind you. The fire of God was on your words, you prayed for hours and did not get tired. The Spirit of God would have you speak to people you didnt know, pray for people on e street you never met and love people no one else loved! People would come to you with their problems even though they barely knew you or didnt know you at all. Dont tell me you are baptized in the Holy Ghost but you never have felt the fire of God. This may sound strange to some of you but I know this to be a fact, you my have the gift of tongues yet still not have the baptism of fire. Tongues may be a evidence of the baptism but Im afraid its not the evidence. People that are baptized in the Holy Ghost break the devils things and shake up this worlds system. Believe is not some mental ascent, it actually is something you say every day in prayer. In Hebrew it is amen which means more than so be it. It actually translates better as support. He who believes (supports Jesus through his lifestyle and actions) and is baptized will be saved. It takes on a little more meaning when you hear it from the perspective of those who wrote the bible.
