My generation is of the mid 60s to around the mid 70s. I was what was considered a hippie back then. During that period of time police by us were regarded a the Fuzz, Pigs or Narcs. {narcotic agents} As I got older and became much wiser I saw how so very wrong this was. Even after being beat & arrested by cops my attitude toward law enforcement still changed. It was tough but as I entered into around my mid 20s, I swallowed my pride and finally admitted that I was the bad guy and not the cops at all. In fact I found that most cops were very friendly. Some continued to have a smart ass attitude but most were cool. I myself had never needed their assistance but saw that they were there for the people who did along with arresting the one who committed crimes. I was quite easy for me to see that if I didnt break the law, I wouldnt have a problem. This theory turned out to be true. Its been nearly 40 years & Ive NEVER been stopped by police. The only time I have ever needed them was 17 years ago when my x-wife pulled a gun and the police WERE there for me. For a long time now I have had a new found respect for law enforcement. While driving, if a patrol passes me from the opposite direction I always wave at them as a gesture to say Thank You. Even if I know they cant see me, I still wave. {other side of interstate etc.} I wonder if it has ever occurred to anybody that if nobody ever broke the law, police wouldnt even have a job.Of course there will be those who dont agree with me but oh well.
