Question: Does anyone here have health anxiety? I have horrible problems right now with checking my heart rate and blood pressure from either my blood pressure machine the app on my phone or with my finger on my pulse. What made it all come back for me after being gone almost 1 1/2 years was the fact that I started to be able to feel my heartbeat in my stomach, chest, and sometimes my head even. I went to the doctors they listened to my heart and said they couldnt hear any issues even with a pulse of 94 and blood pressure was 130 something over 91 cause of anxiety of being there went down right before I went home. Then I started feeling a bit better until I got my blood test results back from my doctor saying that I have high cholesterol and then he wasnt worried but I had higher levels of blood serum calcium, hematocrit, and red blood cell counts. I am a Weston A Price Foundation supporter and live the life as best I can. I hear high cholesterol isnt the problem is inflammation. I am also worried because If I eat organic/ raw dairy/ local etc.... how and why should this happen to me. The only thing I keep thinking about is great so anxiety causes me to have high cholesterol so I guess I am screwed and it is going to kill me. Ugh...... BFFA Reply: You probably are just like me and all the people I work with. Anxiety usually is genetic and it is not your fault. The blood pressure is totally normal when you are anxious. Your body wants it to be higher because the chemistry is prepping to run or fight. We see patients all the time with cholesterol over 200 and they are fine. We think it is inflammation, as you said, that is the trouble maker. You are not all screwed and it is not likely to kill you!! I see a lot of people with health anxiety. Once they get their anxiety symptoms under control, they often drop the fear of being sick-except for the normal amount most people have.
