Once more, heres our helpful (and updated!) list to con-goers old and new! Follow this handy advice and youll ensure a great time for yourself and your fellow attendees at TFW 2014! 1) Bring cash with you. There are ATMs on the premises and some vendors will take credit cards, but its always best to come prepared. It helps you stay on-budget and ensures youll be able to get everything you want! And dont forget to bring tens and fives! Not everything is $20, and by the end of the weekend, many vendors may have trouble making change! 2) Wear comfortable shoes! Youll be on your feet a LOT, and youll want to remain as comfortable as possible as the hours and days wear on! 3) When listening in on panels, dont be afraid to ask questions... but dont make them about yourself! Dont tell them about your own film, ask for a hug, or tell them youd like to give them a gift. If you feel compelled to do any of the above, do so when youve got one-on-one time at their tables. 4) Stay hydrated! We all enjoy an ice cold beer or two, but bring bottles of water or Powerade to keep you going during the days! 5) If you need time off, take it! Enjoy a drink at the bar, hop in the pool with fellow horror fans, or take a short nap. Theres a lot to do at TFW, but you need to stay healthy, refreshed, and energetic to enjoy it all! 6) During the evenings, watch some of our amazing films - but just like any theater, please dont talk during the movies! We encourage laughter and general fun, but if you need to chat, take your conversation to the hallway or someone might tell you to clam up! 7) It seems like common knowledge, but one word - deodorant. 8) Talk to your fellow con-goers! If you see someone wearing a shirt you love, tell them! If you see a great costume, ask to take a photo with them! Conventions are about fostering community - and are the best places on Earth to make new friends! 9) Stop by booths you might otherwise look over. Ask questions to vendors, artists, and celebrities that you might be curious about - and buy something that will create a memory! 10) Conventions are the one time in your life that you get to speak to celebrities, but dont forget that they need space. Avoid asking personal questions, and if you see them trying to sneak back to their room for some peace and quiet, dont corner them for a free autograph or photo. Theyll be back at their booths in no time, and you can always catch them there! 11) With crowds as large as TFW pulls in, the elevators can take quite a while and have the potential to get VERY crowded. Work off your lunch (or that sixth beer!) by taking the stairs, which offer access to every floor of the hotel. You can do it. We believe in you. 12) Youve waited a long time to meet your favorite celebrity, but please dont forget that there may be hundreds of people behind you, eagerly anticipating the same moment. Get an autograph and photo, ask them a question, or thank them for being there, but dont hold them for too long. 13) Bring a backpack, duffel bag, poster tube, or other means of carrying the goodies you pick up. Very few vendors offer bags, and youll want to remain as unencumbered as possible while enjoying the show. If you have a room in the hotel or a car parked nearby, head there occasionally to unload your wares! 14) If you plan on getting DVDs signed, just bring the paper inserts, rather than the whole case and disc. It saves on space, and waiting a while before putting them back in their case will prevent smudging. Keep them safe until you get home by placing them in a folder, binder, or large book. 15) If autographs are your thing, consider bringing your own sharpie. Pick a color you like, and test the pen on surfaces beforehand to make sure it gives you the perfect look. And if your name is tricky, or spelled differently than expected, affix a post-it with your name on it to the item you want signed. That way, there will be no mistakes! 16) And above all - HAVE FUN! Texas Frightmare wouldnt exist without all of you, and ensuring a great time is our main priority. If you need anything, ask a volunteer! If veteran con-goers have anything theyd like to add, please do! We cant wait to see all you - old and new - at Texas Frightmare Weekend 2014!
