My ginger cat will stop whatever it is doing and look directly at me if I ever shake a pill bottle. Doesnt matter if it is eating, about to spray, about to attack the grey cat because they hate each other, whatever it is doing, all I need to do is shake a pill bottle. When it was a kitten, because it is a tom, it started to spray on the inside wall. I picked up a pill bottle and shook it, and it looked at me and continued to spray. So I threw the pill bottle at it (very light small pill plastic bottle with pills). I threw it hard, but threw high to miss it. The cat saw me throw and immediately jumped back - right into the path of the flying bottle, which I think gave it a shock more than anything else. Since then, just shaking the bottle will automatically make it stop, drop on its haunches and get ready to run. I have never ever had to throw the bottle again.
