My grandma Christina (Schilling) Woehl came to America in 1911 (30Mar1911-12Apr1911) with her parents, siblings and her dads parents. I have the ship records, tickets, ticket jacket, family photo they took prior to departure, and what appears to be a Russian passport record , --still looking for someone to translate this--. (I will post photos of all, and just the cover of the Russian passpot, if anyone can translate, I have 14 photos two pages each to share it is a small booklet). Johann Sr. and Fredricka (Nannt or Nagga) Schilling, John Jr and Christina (Schlepp) Schilling with their children: Gottfried, Reinhold, Christina, Katie, went from Borodino to Baltimore. Christina (Schlepp) Schilling was 4 ½ mo pregnate at time of departure, she sadly lost her baby while onboard this ship. Christina was born in Borodino, Bessarabia, to her parents John and Christina (Schlepp) Schilling. NDSU Germans from Russia library has a two hour video of my grandma Christina (Woehl) Schilling telling the story of her coming to America and the songs they sung onboard the ship as they left. She sings the songs in german, on this video. The song seemed sad as it talked about saying goodbye to their homeland and family left behind. It was nice to hear my grandma share these stories with me as I was growing up.
