My great-grandmothers sister taught in a one room classroom in Sandersville, GA. My grandmother and my mother taught and retired from Detroit Public Schools. My brother and I, a physician and nuclear physicist, respective, are the product of public school TEACHERS! Teachers are a special team if warriors. People say they don make much. I tend disagree. They make doctors and rocket scientists, lawyers and legislators, authors and artists. Teachers, truly passionate teachers, are called into service much like ministers and volunteer military service folk. Teachers just do what they do and they do it against the odds and in spite of what the experts say. Some of us are because of the teachers weve had.
