My heart is full of sorrow to share the sad news that Michel du Cille, friend of my family, Washington Post photojournalist and pillar of the photography community, has died of a heart attack while on assignment in Liberia. While visiting Bellingham a few years ago he generously gave me a print of a photo of Rosa Parks he had made as a young photojournalist. While sitting down to family dinner that night he talked to young Gus about Rosa and about the light that she cast during that dark chapter of American history. No kinder, gentler heart has ever walked this earth and we are all much, much poorer for his passing.
