My heart today is with my sisters and brothers at Fort Hood, TX. One again, one of our number took his own life, and in his anguish killed others of our family. They say that an average of 22 service members take their life every day. That number leaves out the service family members who also kill themselves. None of this includes the thousands of others who suffer, but for whatever reasons do not end their lives, and carry their pain each day. The service is not for everyone. Although they might be physically able, some are not mentally prepared for what may come. And others experience horrors for which they cannot come back from without help. Be that as it may, once they are in, they are permanently part of our family. We would never leave them behind on the battlefield, but we cannot leave them once they come home either. They are a part of our group soul, and any loss diminishes us all.
