My hommie ingo just asked me a question that I believe a lot of the old school hip fans that vibe with the new school sound a bit might ask... Is every rapper gonna jump on trap beats now? I started listening to hip hop in the 90s, coz I was born in 89 lol, I was gonna catch it in 80s but it was june and I just couldnt understand shit at the time. :v okay lets be serious. In hip hop, beats have always had a few blue prints, and they usually depend on the time signature or tempo of the beat. But if you listen, the syths may differ, the chord progressions, and just over all feel. But the drum line is more or less the same accept for a few experimental exceptions. But in the 80 you knew the sound, then the 90s came the sound changed, more variety in beats, obviously we are longer just looping beats on the vynal, we have digital programs, but the drum line, still pretty much the same and so the verse structure and flow, would also be similar. You know lines were longer, hardly any empty spaces in with in and in between the bars. The sound we call boom bap this wasnt just underound in the 90s this was everywhere, the difference is underground is more grimey and mainstream is jiggy! But its boom bap, whether ganster rap or concious shit, the drums went boom bap. Now things evolve, and what we have now is an evolution in beats and sound. There is a new pace, and a new drum line. The hats now roll, the base line is the 808, the kicks are different. Their timing and everything, precussions much more playful. Basically the beat makers have evolved, ofcourse they should, they have more at their disposal, inovation calls for it. Trap or the rather the new school sound is simply an evolution of the sound. So if many people do it now, its because that is how this beautiful creation called hip hop has evolved. And dont say but the rappers on those beats are wack coz you that means you have never listened to mick jenkins. Id mention more but I think hes enough lol! So if everyone jumps on new school or trap beats it should not be questioned, because when everyone jumped on boom bap no one questioned it.
