My horse, Talon, is an 8 y.o. OTTB whom I adopted as a 3 y.o. (only 4 starts during his racing career). I have since competed him through Preliminary level Eventing, but havent been competing him the past couple years as I have become aware of some physical issues in his spine which cause him chronic discomfort. I am hopeful the issues in his spine can be rehabilitated to a point he will be comfortable eventing again. A veterinarian in Indiana diagnosed him with kissing spine after doing a thorough lameness exam followed by x-rays of his spine. He has a rotation to the left from his pelvis all the way to his withers (right side of pelvis high, withers tilt to the left). I have used many treatment methods with him including: chiropractic, bodywork/massage, laser, mesotherapy, and acupuncture. The laser therapy is the only therapy that I ever felt a difference afterwards, but the effects wore off within about a week. I structure his training with his spinal issues in mind to promote more balanced development, but I think this process could be greatly helped by using other therapies to help break up his pain cycle. I am interested in getting you to do an evaluation on him and full body treatment with whatever therapies you feel would be most appropriate based on your evaluation and his history. I am very interested in learning more about your methods and techniques and would love to watch you work with other horses as well. The attached photos are of Talons spine before doing much rehab work with him.
