My inbox is being inundated daily with Democratic appeals for $ because we have donated in the past. Obama raised more money from small donors like us in the past, but now the Party is taking us for granted. I am unsubscribing from these lists with the following message: The Democratic Party does not represent me. Under the current Administration the illegal Guantanamo prison remains open. Drones are being deployed at unprecedented levels, killing innocent people. The U.S. continues to project an unsustainable military presence on every continent of the world, while our infrastructure, schools, health care and transportation suffer at home for lack of money. Pharmaceutical, military and other multinational corporations control the policy makers of our government, not the citizens. At no time in history have we been less free from the intrusion upon our privacy. We continue to imprison more people than any other civilized nation—mostly men of color for minor drug offenses. Other than so-called gay marriage—which has never been high on our agenda—its hard to imagine how things would be so much worse under a Republican administration. So, stop asking for support. When Democrats grow a spine and take a stand against these travesties (even if they arent able to win every vote yet), THEN by all means come back and tell us how we can support you. Meanwhile, I dont feel inspired by your rhetoric, I feel disgusted by it.
