---WHEN A MILITARY PET IS TURNED INTO A SHELTER--- Dogs on Deployment wishes we could help in all situations, but the reality is, we are a volunteer based organization with a focus on prevention of pet relinquishment, and encouraging pet fostering through our network. We are not a rescue. When a military-owned pet is turned into a shelter, there is little our organization can do. Dont fret, our volunteers will contact the shelter, see if we can contact the owner, offer them alternatives to relinquishment and provide the shelter resources on our program to prevent relinquishment from military members from happening in the future, but beyond that, we are limited to our options. We ask that if you see a pet on Facebook turned into a shelter due to a military commitment, please check if it has already been posted on our page before reposting. We ask that you as our loyal fans, write the shelter or the rescue group with a link to our program so they know about us in the future. We ask that you network that dog as much as you can. The biggest thing you can do to help military pet relinquishment is to SHARE our organization far and wide. Help us reach those that need our help. Contact your local shelter, let them know we exist. Contact your local military base, let them know we exist. Contact your friends, family and neighbors, let them know THEY can help. Together, we can make a difference.
