My journal of my stay on the Hole in the Floor Ranch: - TopicsExpress

My journal of my stay on the Hole in the Floor Ranch: 7/7-8/14 I didnt put up a journal yesterday, so Ill try to catch up on two days worth of adventures! lol... Yesterday was a scorcher of a day with hot breezes that felt like a heater fan blowing on us. We had a spot of fun with Charlie by squirting him with the hose. He loves it!! None of the other horses seem to enjoy being cooled down, but Charlie had a ball as long as Geo was willing to hose him down. Of course, right after that, it was off to the back of the paddock where the cured manure is spread for a good roll. Danny got the idea and had a good roll, too, but Charlie was the one who came up with the nice coating of mud! Im sure it probably helped keep the flies off of him. Ill put a few photos up of that event! The biggest thing that happened yesterday, of course, was the early arrival of Marshal Wyatt Earps babies...7 of them, delivered by c-section. It was truly a close call with the tiniest of the pups and we are still in awe of the vet who worked feverishly to save the little guy! And guess what...that little guy is the one Sandy & Geo have decided to select as the addition to the Hole in the Floor Gang. He will become Doc Holiday officially, but for now, were just calling him precious! Hes a cute little bugger! Here...take a look! Now, is that a chip off the old block, or what!! Today around the ranch was a busy day...Geo & I did our regular barn chores and run to Florence for water...then it was back to do repairs on one of the barn doors and adjustments to the water hauling business (??)...and on top of that we had to haul dirt to fill in some holes in Dannys favorite digging place. He digs with his front hoof while he demands his dinner. lol... Ill be upfront about it all...I actually did things like haul the ladder, hold nails, pick up trash to be burned...that sort of thing, but the important part is that I was there and I helped! lolol... Tonight we went to Canon City to see the pups and get our first really good look at them. The cloudy day weve had finally gave us a tiny bit of rain and we actually had to turn on the windshield wipers! lol... Sadly, it seems the rain is all over with and I expect well be back to hot wind and sunshine tomorrow. 1. & 2. Baby Doc Holiday 3. & 4.Charlie getting hosed down by Geo! 5. Charlie rolling in the dirt. 6. Muddy boy!
