My last solid food intake was at 5am today.. It was almost 12noon when I heard my stomach growling.. I was pretty sure I was not hungry at that time because I intentionally had my breakfast heavy to endure street difficulties like hunger, traffic, etc.. I am in Taguig now for a staycation.. Perhaps a change of environment like a quiet & serene atmosphere away from the rapturous shouting of street children & teenagers almost till past midnight, the eardrum breaking continuous roar of motor engines and other migraine causing noise in Malabon urban life... a hilly, windy place with luxuriant foliage would definitely hasten my recovery from illness which I suppose anxiety-fatigue disorder... Fever had left me.. It is just that I feel my room going on around me, my head is aching and so are my limbs and joints.... I Am not in the pink of health yet😞 Suddenly I craved for Jollibee Chicken and Spaghetti as I passed by one outlet along Bayani Street... My stomach was rumbling again that this time I felt I am going hungry... As I entered the Jollibee store I was welcomed by a strutting Jolibee mascot... Wherever Pilipinos gather expect a festive atmosphere and children keep on moving busily... For the moment nalibang ako-- I was transported wayback the time I was very young and pleasant memories of Jollibee as a neophyte in the burger business dominated then by McDonalds.. I was awed with how jollibee had fought mightily from scratch to be the Philippines largest food chain in the country and still growing to invade and capture the globe with its chicken glee este chicken joy with victorious glee... In an article published in The Economist, I quote: Tony Tan mentioned that the adorable bee mascot we’ve always loved represents Filipino spirit: hard-working, optimistic, and most of all, ‘jolly’. Bees, by nature, are hard-working insects who always strive to get honey or the sweetest things that life could offer. And just like a typical working Filipino, bees are “happy even though they’re busy”... [Image source: kopinoy.wordpress] And TRIVIA: Forgotten mascots forgotten jollibee mascots ...Unlike its counterparts, Jollibee has Disney-inspired mascots that match every food it serves. Apart from the happy bee we’ve all grown to love, there’s also Mr. Yum to represent our all-time favorite burgers, Popo for french fries, Hetty for spaghetti, and the stylish Twirlie for sundaes and other Jollibee desserts. These are the same faces that kids love to watch in Jollitown, a children’s program launched by the company in 2008. Seeing five mascots seems pretty cool. But back in the day, there were actually nine of them. Unfortunately, some of these mascots had to say goodbye to give space for Jollibee’s product expansion. In case you don’t remember, the discontinued mascots are Chickee, the white hen representing Chickenjoy; Lady Moo and Mico for milkshakes; and the boxer Champ for the Champ Premium hamburger. These lovely characters were introduced in 1987, 1993, 1985, and 1984, respectively.. [Source:kopinoy.wordpress] Jollibee is well loved by people like me because of its lasang Pinoy, the taste of its food are tailored to Pinoy taste buds... And, Jollibee promotes Pilipino values, respect for the elders and loyalty to family... Uh-oh, with this thought I suddenly miss my family specially my mom in Malabon, my two adorable dogs Bruno & Aurello (how would they sleep without me, Aw Aw).. And, my facebook friends like Mirla N. Poblete... But then I felt joy and that was enough to bring me simple pleasure.. Suddenly I was a child again, a child without worries, a child who never gets anxious of the ails of the world, a child who is always at peace and ever trusting because she has a father whose love for her is constant... Oh, why do I always forget that I have a very powerful and loving Father in heaven... My childlike faith should never wane As long as there is a reminder of that divine love for me in an air I breathe in for life... In an air I could always smell Jollibees langhap sarap so I could remain childlike and be able to avoid worries & stresses and to never get sick anymore...😇 Note: old copy- picture w/ jollibee
