My latest Letter to the Editor. My beliefs and I dont know if this one will get published: I wrote a paper one time on what allowed civilization, defined as tribal community. I proposed and still believe the pivotal events are when the ecology is modified to sustain a greater number of people per square mile, than it had pre-revision. Population has never been successfully controlled. The results of the altered ecosystem and increased population has been a mew cycle demanding an ever increasing technology towards meeting an ever expanding population growth. Often times, we have failed to meet that demand and populous has suffered. In an effort to increase the worldwide food production Monsanto began to genetically modify food crops to be resistant to Monsanto’s most popular herbicide, Roundup. For the first time, I systemic plant killer could be sprayed on agriculture crops without destroying the food source, only the weeds that could limit production. What wasn’t expected was the systemic active ingredient Glyphosate would be infused in the body of the people eating the food, absorbed by the fatty tissue resulting in a world-wide epidemic of neurologic diseases and disorders including Dementia, Epilepsy and Autism, The list is quite long. The threat isn’t from the GMO plant strains but the herbicide the modification is designed to tolerate. To survive this threat we need to understand that no ecologic alteration comes without the potential of threat. In this case it’s becoming disastrous. An immediate solution is personal selectivity about what we eat and feed our children.
