My lifting has dwindled to maybe once a week if Im lucky, and its nowhere near as heavy as it used to be. This is for several reasons: arthritis is asking for less load, its just not as compelling right now, Ive been so busy with clients. Ive been doing mostly bodyweight, kettlebell and sandbag stuff for the last 6 months or so - and I havent really lost any muscle mass. Ive lost a little bit of brute strength (my max lifts have declined) but Im just as strong, if not stronger, in day-to-day tasks. You body is a heavy thing and you can totally use it to get stronger and leaner.
