My message to young journalists trying to define success in journalism, especially in these changing and uncertain times: You have to decide for yourself what success looks like and what kind of storyteller you want to be. Because if you dont decide those things, the newsroom is going to decide it for you. And youre probably going to be miserable. And if you are a miserable journalist, do all of us a favor and do something else. Because what journalists do is so important. Its the heart of democracy.
