My mom and dad are celebrating their 38th wedding anniversary - TopicsExpress

My mom and dad are celebrating their 38th wedding anniversary today! I am beyond thankful for all they are to our family. I do not take for granted the blessing of having my parents together for all these years. There were times when I’m pretty sure they didn’t like each other, but the commitment stayed the same. They taught me what that commitment looks like. I am grateful that they didn’t spoil me with things. I had some nice things, but it was usually because I got it for my birthday or Christmas. They also taught me to take good care of what I had, therefore, things stayed nice for a long time. I will never forget the time when I was a senior in high school, and I just had to have a pair of Timberland boots. Mom said I could maybe get them for Christmas. However, my senior pictures were scheduled at Thunderheart in October, and I really wanted to wear them for pictures. You know, they looked real cute in the “barn set” at Thunderheart. ;) Mom let me have them for pictures, but as soon as that picture was taken, they went back in the box and, by golly; I waited two months to receive them for Christmas that year. I had to wait, but man, I was that much more excited about getting them. Now, I will say that I was a little spoiled in a different way….Mom and Dad totally spoiled Autumn and me with their love. I didn’t have to know what it was like to not have them at every tiny little thing I was involved in. Their presence was truly a gift. Parents, I’m telling you, it’s your presence that makes a difference. Dad always mouthed from the stands during football games while I was cheering to let me know if we were on offense or defense, so I’d know which cheer to start, lol! Hey, give me a break, I liked basketball much better than football, and I knew what the heck was going on in basketball. Eddie and Brenda, Mom and Dad, Honey and Papa…they are the best. They were made to be mine and Autumn’s parents and Patrick and Kevin’s in-laws. And boy were they ever cut out to have three crazy, busy, funny, precious, little boys as their grandsons. Happy Anniversary, Mom and Dad. And thank you.
