My mom was an Army Cook so even though I was never in the service I sure had my fair share! Very special occasions she used chipped beef and the crème sauce, but usually used her variation using hamburger (the sauce was mushroom soup) and sometimes toast or biscuits but usually mashed potatoes. Had it at least once or twice a week! She could do some wonderful things with Spam too, my favorite was with scrambled eggs and mushrooms. Her onion rings, deep fried chicken, and pineapple upside down cake were my picks for my birthday EVERY year. Her strawberry pie was to die for, which my wonderful sister copied for me a couple weeks ago (thanks Sis) when I was back home. RIP Mom and thanks!
