My morning started off by stumbling across the auto-tuned video of Robin Williams. https://youtube/watch?v=G2e_M06YDyY Since Robins death I have reflected on the movies he made that impacted me. Dead Poets Society is near the top of that list. It came out in 1989 before I had an understanding of my spirit, soul and body. But I was drawn to the movie for reasons I couldn’t explain. As I have watched clips from that movie again, I can now hear and understand why my spirit was so drawn to it. Especially the quote: “You must strive to find your own voice. Because the longer you wait to begin, the less likely you are to find it at all. Thoreau said, Most men lead lives of quiet desperation. Dont be resigned to that. Break out!” That is what Ruach is about. We start the conference with Song of Solomon 2:14 “So I went with him, and when we were climbing the rocky steps up the hillside, my beloved shepherd said to me, “O my dove, while you are here in the seclusion of the clefts in the solid rock, in the sheltered and secret place of the cliff, let me see your face, let me hear your voice; for your voice is sweet, and your face is lovely.” (amplified) Robin’s character also says, “This is a battle, a war, and the casualties could be your hearts and souls.” At Ruach we get to help women battle to find and live from their own voice. It is a battle, but it is worth it.
