Benny bone marrow tests all came back negative so he is clear of leukaemia and any other infections woop woop! They will be repeating the test again late August. Ben was due to be discharged tomoro meaning after seven weeks we get to go home!!!! Yay!!! I didnt announce the news as I didnt want to tempt fate. Alas it is not to be as he spiked a temperature last night and has been out on IV anti biotics. Benny is gutted. We both are. All we want to do is get home. We have spent soooo much time in hospital since February possible managing to total up maybe a month at home so far this year. Its a hard slog but we cant give up now. We are so close to the finish line. Benny is fine in himself and still giggling with his friends on the xbox and one set of bloods has come back negative so we jus waiting on his blood cultures to come back which take 48hrs. Blood cultures are used to detect the presence of bacteria or yeasts in the blood which may have spread from another site in the body, to identify the microorganisms present and to guide treatment. Cultures are incubated in a warm environment for several days to allow any microorganisms to multiply. In many laboratories automated instruments continuously monitor the samples for growth, allowing those with bacteria or yeasts in them to be detected more rapidly. When a blood culture is positive, the specific microorganism causing the infection is identified and antibiotic susceptibility testing is performed to tell the doctor which antibiotics are most likely to be effective for treatment. Fingers crossed for little Benny. He jus wants to go home and have his steak dinner :) lol
