My name is Robert Pitre grew up in the Southend Project from about 1954-1969 I have visited many cities in America and to me Beaumont was the best city and environment for me to grow up in. I own land in the Southend near Exxon Mobil Refinery in Beaumont. I was notified by Exxon Mobil and Texas Commission on Environmental Quality (TCEQ) stating the refinery landfill permit has expired and Exxon Mobil were going to cover up all the toxic wastes at their site. I call Mr. Carl Wideman with Exxon Mobil inquiring about what kind of toxic wastes and he said just old construction debris that is all. I contacted TCEQ and talk to Mr. Martin Torres asked what kind of toxic wastes were in the refinery’s landfill, he said more than 40 years of chemicals, so that told me that Mr. Wideman had misrepresented what was in the landfill. I have often thought that the reasons so many of my friends and residents of the Southend of Beaumont had suffered and died from cancer from the pollution coming out of the Exxon Mobil Refinery. I call back Mr. Wideman and said I would like to talk with the new plant manager Fernando Salazar, he stated he had no way to contact him and he would get back to me. I then received a call from Lee Dola and he stated he was the community represented for Exxon Mobil Refinery. Mr. Dola said he was told I wanted to sell my land near the refinery, I said no my land is not for sale. Mr. Lee Dolard then ask what is my issue with Exxon Mobil, I told him how all of the rooftops in the Southend are black from pollution that come from Exxon Mobil Refinery. I gave Mr. Dola a example about when you shoot a gun in the air a bullet will always come down just like the pollution that is coming out of the large stacks from Exxon Mobil Refinery. I said to Mr. Dola that I like to see a independent study that would go door to door to find the health conditions of all resident living cross from Exxon Mobil Refinery, he said they would not be interested in that study this was on Thursday 7/17/14. I received a call 7/21/14 from Mr. John Thibodeaux who lives in the state of California asking why would I stop Exxon Mobil from donating $50,000.00 to program for at risk youth in Southend cross from the refinery. I call Mr. Dola on 7/22/14 and he was not able to explain how Mr.Thibodeaux could know about my correspondence with Exxon Mobil. I also asked Mr. Dola about the $50,000.00 donation to the At Risk Youth Organization in the Southend that would be stopped by affords to have Exxon Mobil Refinery physically examine the resident. Mr. Dola said he could not talk about the donation. IT IS TIME FOR BLACKS TO STANDUP AND HELP EACH OTHER!
